Proposed Green Energy Act
On December 10th at Queens Park in Toronto, a proposed draft of the Ontario green energy act was released titled: "An Act Granting Priority to Renewable Energy Sources to Manage Global Climate Change, Protect the Environment and Streamline Project Approvals". Some of the issues the draft focuses on includes the following:
Strong action is needed to make Ontario a global leader in the development of renewable energy, clean distributed energy and conservation, creating thousands of jobs, economic prosperity, energy security, and climate protection. Public bodies, aboriginal communities, labour and rate-payers share an interest in the generation of electricity that ensures the adequacy, safety, sustainability and reliability of electricity supply in Ontario. Through responsible and innovative planning and management of electricity resource and supply & demand, the needs of present and future generations can be met.
